2022 Wood Buffalo Arctic Winter Games

In March 2022, the Arctic Winter Games - the world's largest circumpolar sporting event - will be returning to the Wood Buffalo region for the first time since 2004. This amazing sporting and cultural festival will feature athletes and officials coming to Fort McMurray from Northern Alberta, Alaska, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Greenland, Yamal (Russia), Nunavik (Quebec), Sapmi (Scandinavia).

RBC PGA Scramble Presented by The Lincoln Motor Company - Local Qualifier

Across Alberta in 2019, RBC PGA Scramble presented by The Lincoln Motor Company "Local Qualifier" events will be taking place to qualify golfers for the Alberta Regional Final at the Fairmont Banff Springs on August 11, 2019. These scramble events are designed for foursomes looking to test themselves on some of the best golf courses in Alberta, and for the chance to play in the RBC PGA Scramble National Championship at Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia in October 2019. 

Fort McMurray Marksman Competition

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 165 in Fort McMurray will be hosting their 2nd Annual Marksman Competition at the Fort McMurray Fish & Game Association Rifle Range, approximately 20kms south of Fort McMurray. The event is open to ages 12 and up.

Tickets are on sale through Eventbrite and include lunch at the range and a prime rib dinner at the Legion in Waterways after the competition. 

2020 Baseball Canada Cup

After a very successful 2016 Baseball Canada Cup and 2018 Baseball Canada 18U National Championship, Baseball Canada will be returning to Fort McMurray for another national event! The 2020 Baseball Canada Cup will be played at the now-familiar combination of Ross Hennigar Park and Shell Place, featuring all-star teams of the best ballplayers from each province duking it out for national honours.

Wheelchair Sports Alberta "Try Day"

Wheelchair Sports Alberta (WSA) will be coming to Fort McMurray October 14th, 2017 with a very exciting opportunity to try out some new sports & activities! The "Try Day" will be at Father Patrick Mercredi High School in Thickwood, and all ages and abilities are encouraged to come out. Weather permitting, there'll be a BBQ and lots of fun times to be had!
