Aurora Borealis, northern lights

Newly expanded in 2010, MacDonald Island Park features an array of recreational activities for the whole family, from swimming and skating to workout facilities and concerts.

Adults, teens, and kids are hanging out and enjoying nature-based games on unique "pawd"-mounted obstacles that climb, zip, jump, and swing through the tree-tops. Multi-level platforms hover two to twelve meters (four to forty feet) above ground on site at Vista Ridge, now a year-round stop for outdoor recreation.

We fly from Ft. McMurray, out over the Wood Buffalo region. The water breaks gently under the floatplane’s pontoons as they skim the surface of a remote lake.
