About the Gold Star Program

Purpose

The Gold Star Program was started by Fort McMurray Tourism in 2004 to honor excellence in customer service within the tourism, hospitality, retail and service industry within Fort McMurray.  The Gold Star Awards Program is meant to be a service to our members and community while also furthering the tourism, hospitality and service sectors within our region.

Gold Star Awards

The Gold Star Awards include 14 outstanding service categories that are nominated by the public and the Tourism Ambassador Award that is nominated by the members of the tourism industry.  Please contact [email protected] for program information.

Gold Star Awards Gala

The Gold Star Awards Gala is held to publicly honor all the outstanding customer service individuals.  The Gold Star Awards Gala is held each year to honor the outstanding service individuals of the previous year.  This year, the Gala was held on March 15th at MacDonald Island Park!

Gold Star of the Month

The Gold Star of the Month program will honor outstanding service individuals throughout the year and will play an integral part of promoting and developing both the Gold Star program and the tourism, hospitality and service sectors within our region.

The Gold Star of the Month is a component of the Gold Star Awards Program that will highlight an outstanding service individual every month to promote and further develop the program.  This component will regularly recognize and honor outstanding service within the region.
